Soothing Touch Massage to Calm Down

This week I will share the soothing massage to calm down using the C-Tactile afferent nerves that I introduced last week. Do these when you are upset, irritated, mad or have self-doubt.

First, warm up your hands by rubbing them together or soak in a warm water or however you can.

Next, lightly place your overlapped hands on your chest and slowly make big circles in a clockwise motion as you take deep breaths. Do this for 2-3 minutes. I will do it for 1 minute. Keep the light touch throughout as you caress between the clavicle and breasts. If you keep getting unwanted thoughts, focus on the feeling of touch on your chest as you make circles with your hands. If you can’t focus easily, close your eyes and feel the slow movement on your chest. Feel the chest with your palms too. Move at the pace of 2 inches or 5 cm per second. Notice any change in feeling or energy as you do this.

Next, lightly place your hand on your forehead and using the entire fingers, slowly caress up from the eyebrows to the hairline on a count of four. One, two, three, four. Switch hand. One, two three four. Repeat 10 times. Keep breathing deeply and slowly. Keep your eyes closed.

Next, lightly place both hands on the side of the forehead. Cover the upper sides of your face for 30 seconds. Keep breathing deeply. Feel the warmth of your hands on your face. And feel your face with your palms.

Then, lower your hands covering from the eyebrows and cheeks. Gently hold for 30 seconds. Again, take deep breaths feeling the warmth of your hands on your face. And feel your face with your palms as you warm up the side of your face.

Lastly, lightly cover the side of your cheeks with your thumbs behind the ears and slowly make big circles for 1-2 minutes. Feel your jaw muscles relaxed. Keep the touch light as you make circles. And keep breathing deeply. There are lots of C-Tactile afferent nerves on your face too. Notice any shift of energy as you focus on the soothing touch. You can do this sitting or lying on the bed. If you have a table, rest your elbows on the table. How are you feeling now? Hopefully, you are feeling better than before. Slowly open your eyes.
