Thank You Tired Eyes | Mini-Meditation (Massage Monday #503)

As human beings, we all have feelings. Years ago, I heard that body parts can have their own feelings. It was an eye-opening concept but since then I started treating each body part as a separate individual with its own feelings.

When I hit my toe or something, instead of going @%#! I say “Oh I’m so sorry for hurting” and in the videos I sometimes say “Do the other side so it doesn’t get jealous.”

Imagine being your own feet supporting the entire body weight and pounding the pavement. How do you feel? Put yourself in their shoes inside your shoes to think about it. How about being your own knees?

The body part can be internal too.

How about being your own stomach having to digest whatever you put in your mouth? How do you feel about being your own heart having to pump the blood for the entire body constantly? Is the blood you are pumping thick and heavy and cloggy or thin and flowy and easy to travel through the blood vessels?

I think if you personalize each body part, you will find new appreciation and relationship. Maybe you will realize you’ve neglected or even hated certain body parts and owe an apology.

It’s helpful to know what they do for your body. I learned some anatomy in biology class in high school but it wasn’t until I took the anatomy class at the massage school that I was amazed with all the functions that I didn’t care to know they provide for the entire body as a whole.

This week, I will express the love and appreciation to our tired eyes. Your eyes must be tired because you are watching this YouTube video and there’s no way you are watching just one video. I’m making this with ASMR peeps in mind too but just by talking the way I talk.

Thank you for those who commented about what you love or appreciate your eyes. They were so beautiful. I used your answers to create this mini eye meditation. So here we go.

Sit or lie down in a comfortable position and close your eyes. Take a deep breath for a count of 4. 1, 2, 3, 4. Then exhale for a count of 4. 1, 2, 3, 4. Continue breathing deeply the next few minutes. Cover your eyes with your hands. Direct your energy and attention to your eyes.

Thank you eyes for your gift of sight and your gift of vision as one of the senses. Thank you for allowing us to see the beauty of the nature and beauty in things that surround us. Thank you for allowing us to discover the love, beauty, and wonders around the world.

Thank you for allowing us to feel all our emotions from what we see to be human such as pleasures, happiness, excitement, sadness, and anger. Thank you for allowing us to see what’s happening in the world. Thank you for allowing us to see “what’s so” even if we don’t want to see it so we can learn and act from it.

Thank you for being the color you are. I love your color: blue, green, hazel, light brown, brown, dark brown, black with and without specks of yellow and gold. It is all beautiful reflecting the genes from our parents and ancestors. Thank you for enhancing or reflecting the color of the clothes we wear. Thank you iris, the colored part of our eyes, for opening and closing without our conscious effort to regulate the light intake. I love that people love your color and find center and wide openness in you.

Thank you eyes for your unique shape: round eyes, almond eyes, big eyes, small eyes, Disney eyes – again reflecting the genes passed down through generations.

Thank you eyes for being the window to our souls. Thank you for conveying our mood, attitude, intention, and focus. Thank you for telling our state of body and mind whether we are rested well or poorly, happy, excited, relaxed, anxious, tearful, or even emotionless so others can pick up.

Thank you for revealing our inner-selves without sounds, words, or gestures. Thank you for being a greatest tool for actors. Thank you for your ability to roll. Thank you for being very expressive showing a smile before my mouth. Thank you for showing a smile even when the rest of the face is covered and cannot be seen.

Thank you for the fact that you still work and work hard even after having eye issues or as we age. Even if you are not fully functional, thank you for being there physically or spiritually and thank you for helping other senses to sharpen including intuition to experience life fully.

I cannot imagine my life without you. I love you, appreciate you, and thank you.

Take one more deep breath for a count of 4. 1, 2, 3, 4. And exhale for a count of 4. 1, 2, 3, 4. Now open your eyes.

Unless you are just going to bed, let’s make our eyes clear. Pinch by the inner corner of your eyes for a count of 10. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. Press the inner upper corner of the eye socket for a count of 10. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. Pinch the eyebrow with a thumb and index finger and twist the outside up. Repeat to cover the entire eyebrows.
